Bambu Lab's H3C tool changer launches Nov 3 with nine tools on a drop-down rack

Bambu Lab’s H3C tool changer launches November 3, with nine tools held on a Vortex-style rack that drops down in front of the build chamber, according to an 11-second teaser the company released.

The H3C sits in Bambu’s H-line alongside the H2S, H2D and H2C. It is closest to the H2C, a 7-tool induction-heated “nozzle swapper” with a motorized Vortex rack and a 330 x 320 x 325mm build volume, so the H3C adds two tool slots over its nearest sibling.

Spec Value
Tool slots 9
Launch date November 3
Closest sibling (H2C) build volume 330 x 320 x 325mm
Closest sibling (H2C) tool count 7

Tom’s Hardware frames tool changers as faster and less wasteful for color switching than Bambu’s AMS filament system, since each tool stays pre-loaded rather than purging filament on every swap. The teaser shows the rack dropping down rather than sitting over the plate, which the outlet says should give a clearer view of the first layer than Bondtech’s INDX system on a Prusa CORE One, where the rack blocks sight into the chamber.

Bambu has not published price, nozzle sizes, chamber temperature, print speed or what holds the nine spools; the company has only confirmed the tool count and rack mechanism ahead of launch. The outlet also notes unverified leaked images, including one showing ten spools, which it says the new teaser disproves since only nine Bowden tubes appear arching over the machine.

Whether the H3C carries over multitasking add-ons from elsewhere in the H-line, such as the H2D’s laser or the A2L’s optional blade tool, has not been confirmed.
