Neural4D's Multicolor tool auto-detects 4-color schemes from model textures

Neural4D has launched Multicolor, a tool that reads the PBR texture of a model generated on its platform and builds a starting color scheme automatically, instead of making users mark color regions by hand before slicing.

The tool works inside Neural4D Studio, on models the user already generated from an image or text prompt on the same platform. Smart Color scans the texture, finds distinct color regions and proposes a four-color scheme as a starting point. My Colors lets a user save a palette of one to eight colors and reuse it across different models and sessions, and the editor shows what share of the model’s surface each color covers, plus custom HEX input.

Feature Detail
Starting palette Smart Color: 4 colors, auto-detected
Saved palettes My Colors: 1 to 8 colors, reusable
Export formats 3MF (default), GLB
Material presets PLA Basic, PLA Matte, PETG, ABS, TPU

Once colors are set, the exported 3MF carries the scheme into compatible slicing software, where the creator still has to map each color to the printer’s actual filament loadout. Neural4D is not touching the slicing or print-setting step itself, so Multicolor only removes the region-marking work, not the filament-to-color mapping or any slicer-side tuning. That’s a meaningful chunk of the manual labor on complex, many-colored models, but the harder step on a printer with limited filament slots doesn’t go away.

The move fits a pattern among AI-model generators adding production-oriented finishing tools rather than stopping at mesh output, similar to how Tripo P2.0 added native quad-mesh generation for cleaner topology rather than just more detailed meshes (/blog/tripo-p2-native-quad-mesh-generation/).

Neural4D has not published pricing for Multicolor, which printers or slicers it has tested compatibility with, or benchmark numbers on time saved versus manual region-setting.
