Creality launched the SPARKX i8 on Indiegogo at an early-bird price of $309, against a stated MSRP of $399, a 23% discount. The printer uses a single toolhead with four independent filament channels, a design Creality calls the QuarTeks Color Change System, rather than the multiple toolheads or external filament-swapping hardware most multi-color FDM machines rely on.
The claimed advantage is a shared filament path near the nozzle of under 1 millimeter, about 2 cubic millimeters, which Creality says is at least 30 times shorter than shared paths on competing systems. That short path is the basis for the printer’s other numbers.
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Early-bird price | $309 (MSRP $399) |
| Color switch time | under 1 second |
| Test print | 4-color tower, 3,000 switches, ~18 hours |
| Claimed speed vs external-feed systems | 500% faster |
| Color combinations from 4 base filaments | 16 to 32 |
| Sensors | 13, plus AI vision camera |
Creality says the routing of color-change travel into infill and inner walls, rather than a purge tower, cuts external purge waste to zero grams beyond a small startup flush, and eliminates prime towers while keeping visible surfaces clean via an isolating wall. The 3,000-switch tower test and the “500% faster” figure are Creality’s own lab results; no independent benchmark is cited.
The machine also supports auto-refill from up to four spools of the same material, switching when one empties, and an AI camera plus the 13 sensors flag runout, empty spools or air printing.
The first 1,000 backers ordering within 24 hours get up to $50 back in shipping and tax refunds. Shipping is set for October from factory, with delivery in November depending on region, meaning this is still a crowdfunded product rather than a shipped, independently tested one.
