HORKOS and Meltio launch NX70 DUO wire-DED machining center

Japanese machine tool builder HORKOS CORP and Spanish wire-DED developer Meltio have launched the NX70 DUO version AM, a twin-head center that alternates between metal deposition and precision cutting without moving the part between machines. The companies will show it at JIMTOF 2026, running October 26 through 31 at Tokyo Big Sight.

The machine is built on HORKOS’s existing NX70 1510B machining center platform and uses the company’s Non Bed Structure to keep the footprint compact. Meltio’s wire-DED head handles deposition; HORKOS’s own water-soluble iMQL system handles cooling and lubrication during the cutting passes. Operators switch between the two processes within the same setup rather than running deposition on one machine and finishing on another.

HORKOS and Meltio point to closed impellers as the example that justifies the combination: a geometry that’s hard to reach with a cutting tool alone because of limited access, but one where consolidating deposition and machining into a single station cuts the number of part transfers. The companies list complex part production, repair, remanufacturing and prototyping as target applications, aimed at aerospace, defense, energy and heavy industry customers.

MadeHere, Meltio’s master distributor in Japan, is supporting the rollout alongside CNC integration partner Techtrage. Neither company has published a price, build volume, deposition rate, or delivery date for the NX70 DUO, and no third party has yet tested a part made on it. The launch is a specs-light product announcement timed to the trade show rather than a machine with public performance data.
