Prusa Research is now shipping the HT Hotend Upgrade, a $199.99 kit that pushes CORE One printers to 400°C nozzle temperatures, plus a pre-assembled CORE One L+ at $2,169 that comes with the hotend and Prusa’s filtration system already installed.
The hotend fits the CORE One, CORE One+, CORE One+ (Gen 2), CORE One L and CORE One L+, and Prusa says it swaps without tools in under a minute so owners can move between standard and high-temperature printing without dedicating a machine to it. The kit ships with a hardened 0.4 mm ObXidian 500 nozzle, two idlers (one for standard filament, one for high-temp materials), a PC Blend Carbon Fiber main plate, grease-guard gloves and a printed manual. Standard materials like PLA and PETG print fine with it installed, so owners don’t have to remove it to print PLA or PETG.
The point of 400°C is new print profiles: carbon or glass fiber-filled PPS (heat deflection up to 250°C, UL94 V-0 rated) and carbon fiber-filled PPA. Prusa also reports interlayer adhesion gains from the added heat on materials the printers already handled: Prusament PA11 Carbon Fiber up 23%, PC Blend Carbon Fiber (printed at 350°C) up 7%.
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| HT Hotend price | $199.99 |
| CORE One L+ price | $2,169.00 |
| Max nozzle temp | 400°C |
| CORE One L+ build volume | 300 × 300 × 330 mm (29.7 L) |
| CORE One L+ chamber heat | active, up to 60°C |
| CORE One+ (Gen 2) chamber heat | passive, up to 55°C |
The CORE One+ (Gen 2)’s passive chamber tops out at 55°C versus the L+’s active 60°C, and Prusa’s own comparison table says that gap limits the Gen 2 to small high-temp parts. Some materials still need extras Prusa sells separately, including a high-temp print sheet, a USS Drybox, and HEPA/carbon filtration for off-gassing filaments like PA11. No test data or sample counts back the adhesion percentages; those are Prusa’s own figures.
