3D printing stocks, Q2 2026: Markforged is sold again and Creality lists in Hong Kong
On 27 May 2026 Nano Dimension agreed to sell Markforged to Stratasys for 42.5 million dollars in cash, keeping Markforged’s metal binder-jetting product line, with closing expected in the second half of the year. Nano had completed its purchase of Markforged on 25 April 2025 for about 116 million dollars. Stratasys is paying a little over a third of that.
For Stratasys it closes a loop. In 2023 its shareholders voted down a merger with Desktop Metal while Nano spent the year trying to take control of Stratasys itself. Three years later Stratasys is buying from Nano, and what it is buying is a company Nano acquired in the same spree that took in Desktop Metal.
Two days later Creality listed in Hong Kong. The Shenzhen consumer printer maker priced its shares at 18.80 Hong Kong dollars in an offering reported as 3,829 times oversubscribed. On 29 May the stock opened at 33.88, about 80 percent above the offer price, and net proceeds came to about 1.272 billion Hong Kong dollars. The demand had growth behind it: revenue rose from 1.883 billion yuan in 2023 to 3.127 billion in 2025, with about 74 percent of 2025 sales coming from outside China.
The first numbers as a public company went the other way. In August Creality reported a first-half net loss of 59.1 million yuan, against a profit of 107.5 million a year earlier, on revenue up 12.9 percent to 1.63 billion. Gross margin fell from 34.4 to 30.8 percent as cheaper new models and clearance promotions ate into it.
The quarter closed with BigRep. On 29 June the Berlin maker of large-format printers approved selling its operating company to existing backers and delisting from Frankfurt, 23 months after it listed. We cover how it got there separately.
Put side by side, the same five weeks had public investors oversubscribing a Chinese maker of hobbyist printers thousands of times over, while two Western industrial names went the other way.
The quarter before is Q4 2025 and Q1 2026.
