Think Metal raises Rs 27 crore to scale metal filament 3D printing platform

Chennai-based Think Metal has raised Rs 27 crore in a round led by IAN Alpha Fund, with 3i Partners also participating, the company said on October 13, 2026. The money is earmarked for commercial expansion of SistemT1, its metal additive manufacturing platform built around what the company calls proprietary metal filament technology.

Think Metal, founded by Sabyasachi Ghosh and Arushi Sharma, targets aerospace, defence, space, automotive and electric mobility customers. It says it has finished initial technology development and enterprise pilots and is now pushing toward larger commercial deployments, with the new capital going to product development, materials R&D, team growth and customer outreach.

Round size Rs 27 crore
Lead investor IAN Alpha Fund
Claimed speed gain up to 10x faster production
Claimed cost gain up to half the cost

Market claim ~$110 billion global opportunity

Rajnish Kapur, managing partner at IAN Alpha Fund, said part quality has been tested at NABL- and ASME-accredited labs and that the platform could make high-value precision metal parts “up to 10 times faster and at half the cost” than unspecified alternatives. Neither the speed and cost baseline nor the materials covered by that comparison is disclosed, and no build volume, layer resolution, or machine price for SistemT1 has been published.

Ghosh, the company’s CEO, framed the funding as support for building “indigenous capabilities in materials and manufacturing technologies from India for global markets,” without naming specific customers or pilot programs completed so far.

The release does not say how many SistemT1 units exist, where they are deployed, or what metals the platform currently processes beyond a general reference to an expanding materials library.
